"The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok is closely coordinating with Thai authorities to verify the reported Filipino casualty," DFA Secretary Albert Del Rosario said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the DFA, the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok is coordinating with hospitals in Bangkok to verify if there were Filipinos who were killed or injured.

The Philippines condemned the bombing incident, citing that its intent was to "sow terror."

"The Philippines deplores the horrific bombing near a popular Hindu Temple in Bangkok where innocent lives have been lost," the DFA secretary said.

Filipinos in Bangkok have been advised by the Embassy to remain calm and observe necessary precautions to ensure their safety, the DFA added.

At least 18 people were killed and more than 100 were injured after a bomb exploded at a popular shrine in central Bangkok.
