Alert level 4 raised for Pinoys in Yemen

Patricia Lourdes Viray - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Alert level 4 has been raised in Yemen due to the occupation of Houthi rebels in its capital city Sana'a, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Thursday.

The Philippine Government will execute mandatory evacuation procedures for Filipino workers in the country.

According to the DFA, alert level 4 is raised where there is large-scale internal conflict of full-blown external attack.

Operations of numerous embassies in Sana'a were recently suspended due to the civil unrest in the country.

Two parties walked out in protest of the rebel Houthis, causing the United Nations-brokered negotiations to break down.

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia deployed a Crisis Management Team that would assist Filipinos who would wish to return home to the Philippines, the DFA added.
