Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The multi-awarded and internationally famous Loboc Children's Choir bagged a silver medal at the recently concluded 12th China International Chorus Festival (ICF).

The Philippine Embassy in China said the LCC won second place under the youth choir category of the music fest that was held from July 29 to August 4 in Beijing.

In the week-long festival, the LCC performed at the opening concert on July 29 at the Great Hall of the People, along with choirs from China, Mexico, Romania, Hungary, Lithuania, United States, Egypt, Portugal, South Africa, Ukraine and Nigeria.

The LCC also performed in a solo concert on August 1 at the National Library Arts Centre and received general acclaim and a standing ovation.

The 12th ICF was held along with the International Federation of Choral Music World Youth Choral Education Conference, where the LCC's musical director and conductor, Alma Taldo, held a workshop.

The musical group also performed at a Chorale Exchange on July 30 at the Beihang University Concert Hall.

The LCC is a choir composed of children aged between nine and 13 from the Loboc Central Elementary School in Loboc, Bohol.

In 2013, LCC gave a moving rendition of "The Prayer" in front of the 16th Century Loboc Church after a 7.2 magnitude earthquake destroyed the historic monument.
