4 killed in bomb attack targeting police in southeast Turkey

Rosette Adel - Associated Press

ISTANBUL — Turkey's state-run news agency says Kurdish rebels have detonated a bomb as a police vehicle was passing by, killing four people.

Anadolu Agency says 19 other people — five of them police officers — were injured in yesterday's attack in the mainly-Kurdish town of Silopi. Some of them were in serious condition.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, has attacked police and military personnel with bombs since a cease-fire between the rebels and the government collapsed last summer. Turkey's security forces have launched large-scale military operations to flush out the rebels, including in Silopi.
