Newly found MH17 human remains transported to Netherlands
THE HAGUE (Xinhua) - Recently discovered human remains of victims in the MH17 crash were transported from Ukraine to the Netherlands on Saturday.
The remains, in five coffins, arrived on board a Dutch military transport plane and were carried to waiting hearses in a ceremony in the southern city of Eindhoven.
Following the ceremony, the five coffins were brought to the Corporal Van Oudheusden barracks in Hilversum, where the remains will be investigated, possibly identified and then transferred to relatives.
This is the sixth time a transport of MH17 human remains from Ukraine to the Netherlands took place.
The Malaysia Airlines flight crashed on July 17, killing 298 passengers and crew members on board, including 196 Dutch citizens.
On Monday, the Netherlands will hold a national commemoration service in Amsterdam for the victims. Hundreds of grieving relatives are expected to attend, along with political figures and the Dutch king and queen.
