The Philippine Star

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina — Police say they detained 50 people, including 10 police officers, in a countrywide operation against corruption and organized crime.

A statement from the prosecutor's office on Monday said the action was executed simultaneously at 50 locations. The statement said the suspects had smuggled cattle into Bosnia from neighboring Serbia over a long period of time, a making millions in profit.

The prosecution will decide about further steps after it questions each suspect.

The statement said that authorities in Bosnia are determined to continue their intense fight against organized crime and corruption, particularly in cases where the state budget and the citizens are deprived of huge amounts of money. It said the operation was also useful in the process of removing people from power who misuse their official positions.
