The Philippine Star

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) — Police say two buses have collided in central Vietnam, killing 11 people and leaving nine others seriously injured.

The traffic police chief in Khanh Hoa province, Phan Long De, says nine people including the two bus drivers died at the scene of Friday's accident and two others died in hospitals.

Nine passengers remain hospitalized with serious injuries, not none of them were life threatening.

He says one bus was carrying 47 passengers. The number of passengers on the other bus was not immediately known.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Last year, traffic accidents killed nearly 10,000 people in Vietnam, a country with 87 million people.
