Albie hands off in Andi-Jake row

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

After he was cleared in the parenthood issue of Andi Eigenmann’s four-year-old daughter Adrianna Gabrielle “Ellie” Guck (surname is taken from Andi’s mom Mary Jane Guck/Jaclyn Jose), Albie Casiño has remained hands-off in the never-ending media word war between Andi and Jake Ejercito, Ellie’s confessed biological father. The issue has reached the court after Jake filed a case for joint custody. In the long run, guess who will be the victim — yes, poor Ellie who is helplessly caught in the crossfire.

In a pocket presscon for The Complex, a web-serye which premieres exclusively on D5Studio (and on YouTube.com/D5Studio) on Black Saturday, April 15, Albie admitted that the experience has taught him not to disobey his parents, recalling that he was 15 when he met Andi (who is three years older) and they started dating when he was 16 until he was 18. At 17, Albie was already in showbiz earning his own keep, believing he was grown up and knew everything,

Now he’s 23 and happy with his girlfriend, Fil-Am Michelle Arceo (recently declared first winner of Willie Revillame’s Wowowin’s Gandang Filipina search), Albie said, “I’m more mature now” and therefore knows better.

“I’m here to support my girlfriend,” he claimed. He met Michelle last year when she came for a vacation and followed her when she went back to the States. Michelle came back to pursue a modeling career and try showbiz.

Directed by indie megman Prime Cruz, The Complex casts Albie as a 24-year-old nurse who left his hometown of Tacloban City for a fresh start in Metro Manila.

Explained Prime (Sleepless and Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B),The Complex is a different kind of mystery-thriller, hooked more on mood and ambience and not just on jump scares.”

2009 Miss World now a mayor in Gibraltar

Like other beauty queens who have ventured into politics (Miss Universe Irene Saez who ran for president in Venezuela, Miss International Aurora Pijuan as Makati councilor and Bb. Pilipinas-World Daisy Reyes as Pateros councilor, among them), 2009 Miss World Kaiane Aldorino (who represented Gibraltar) was invested as the new mayor of Gibraltar last April 4 after serving as deputy mayor for a few years.

Miss World Organization (MWO) chairman Julia Morley witnessed Kaiane’s investiture and donated $10,000 as support for Kaiane’s charitable projects.

Kaiane is the first Miss World from Gibraltar, beating 111 other hopefuls (including Philippine bet Marie-Ann Umali) at grand finals held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in December. The government of Gibraltar issued a stamp in her honor.

Married to Aron Lopez by whom she has a baby daughter, Kaiane is Gibraltar’s youngest mayor and the third woman to hold the position. — Reported by Celso de Guzman Caparas

Paper Trails exhibit set

Congratulations to Philipp Ines on the opening today at 6 p.m. of his solo exhibit titled Paper Trails at the Boston Gallery in Quezon City. Philipp is well-loved by the Startalk family not only because he designed the set but also because of his self-effacing personality.

For Philipp, the narrative begins with his early drawings in the hills of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, on every piece of paper, cardboard and box that he could find. The exhibition is a demonstration of nostalgia and how it forms the core of his creative practice.

Philipp graduated with a Fine Arts degree from UP. After more than a decade-long stint in creative work in a corporate setting, he pursued his original calling to paint in the recent years. He lives and works in Cavite.

Curated by Riel Hilario, Paper Trails will be on show all throughout April. Boston Gallery is at 72 Boston cor. Lantana Sts., Cubao, Quezon City. (For inquiries, call [02] 722 9205.)
