MANILA, Philippines — Fresh from their collaboration with JW Anderson two weeks ago, Uniqlo unveils its third collection for Uniqlo U, a line presenting progressive essentials created in the Japanese label’s Paris atelier by artistic director Christophe Lemaire. Reinforcing the idea of LifeWear, the fall 2017 collection features designs that marry comfort, design, and technology. Cases in point: while a men’s blocktech military parka uses protective laminated finishing and heat-sealed taping to make it both wind and waterproof, a beautiful long-sleeved merino dress utilizes wholegarment knitwear, a new three-dimensional knitting technology that creates seamless garments, to create a more streamlined and form-flattering silhouette. Meanwhile, hi-waist corduroys, cozy wool sweaters, fluffy fleece cardigans, oversized flannel shirts, and seamless down jackets make for chic and ultra-comfortable additions. It’s thoughtful craftsmanship at its finest, and its range of classic (read: not reliant on trends) styles, playful proportions and autumnal hues only serve to strengthen their philosophy of creating progressive basics. “We want to enlighten your everyday,” Lemaire explains. Well, consider us excited, enamored, and yes, enlightened.

Get ‘em now: The entire Uniqlo U fall collection hits SM Megamall today, with select pieces available in SM Aura and UP Town Center.
