Versace goes Gaga

MANILA, Philippines - Versace confirmed on their Instagram account that Lady Gaga is the new face of the house, posting a stunning photo of the Mother Monster looking exactly like... Donatella. We’re actually not surprised — she has a song called Donatella on “Artpop,” they stepped out looking like twinsies at a party last October, and Lady Gaga actually is of Italian heritage. “I am honored that my friend Lady Gaga is the face of our new Versace campaign,” Donatella said in a statement. “I wanted to capture her true beauty and spirit in images that are elegant and alluring. She is like family to me, the embodiment of the Versace DNA.” The makeover is a refreshing one, considering her past sartorial stunts — we’re guessing she’s leaving the crazy ensembles to Miley Cyrus in favor of this sleek, classy-verging-on-tranny look. As Michael Musto wrote on The Daily Beast, “She could never top the meat dress, balls-wise, so it’s smart to start downsizing the fashion and come off as a frisky but confident artiste more than an eternal club kid in search of the next eye-popping object to festoon herself with.”

 

Knowles-it-all

Queen B’s little sister, Solange, a.k.a. Hipster Knowles just announced on Instagram that she is the art director and creative consultant of Puma by posting a photo of a girl doing a headstand in a pool while wearing a pair of brightly colored sneaks. Solange makes it clear, though, that she didn’t design the pairs — “Over the summer, I paired four incredible designers @gerlanjeans @williamokpo @softcircle (Hisham Bharoocha) to interpret the classic (and one of my personal faves) Puma Disc each in their own distinctive aesthetics to present ‘Girls of Blaze’” — and instead, applied her creative eye to the brand: “It is in my new role that I am able to express my love for not only design but the conception of creative ideas, and the execution of them by curating amazingly talented teams. I’ve had so much fun producing special content, ad campaigns, events, and working alongside the awesome Puma team with some of my favorite emerging artists, photographers, graphic designers, etc. to create activations that really celebrate both mine and Puma’s approach and philosophies.” Hey, whatever Solange is making, we’re probably be buying.
