Exploring beauty through cutting edge science

- JNF -

MANILA, Philippines - With a history of collaborating with world-class experts, P&G Beauty & Grooming revealed its understanding of beauty is not just through fashion, creativity and technology trends but through its commitment to cutting-edge science — a mission inspired by its quest to know the desires and needs of consumers. Over the three-day symposium, guests were taken on a 360-degree journey of the latest innovations as well as the brand heritage through the decades, for Pantene, Head & Shoulders and Olay.

Holistic Modeling

HHair analysis with P&G’s Hair Care Scientist Lais Koelle

“Modeling”— a way of representing and predicting reality — takes the results of different experiments to find the connections between them. By using sophisticated computing power, scientists are able to generate, store and manipulate this data to create “supermodels.‘‘ With this modeling technology, P&G B&G is able to create products with superior selectivity and more targeted performance. Spearheading these scientific discoveries through modeling technologies are P&G’s leading scientists — Dr Steve Shiel, director, Scientific Communications; Dr Rene Rust, principal scientist, Head & Shoulders; and David Khoo, senior skincare scientist, Olay, who explained how the multi-faceted, holistic modeling approach is used to advance different facets of a product — from looking at how technology as a whole has affected the beauty category; to the engineering of designer molecules to increase product performance; down to the design of its packaging.

Pantene’s First-Ever Hair Health Roundtable

Hosting its first-ever Pantene Hair Health Roundtable, the brand brought together the industry’s leading experts, its top scientists and renowned stylists to shed light on various perspectives on hair health — from the toughest hair challenges women face today, to new insights on age-old hair issues. The event kicked off with a hair health analysis and science lounge led by P&G’s Girish Giovanni and R&D Barbs Perez, who delved into the anatomy of hair and the causes of common hair issues; followed by a hair health counseling lounge with P&G’s Laís Koelle, hair care scientist, Scientific Communications, to showcase its live scientific demonstrations to prove the efficacy of Pantene products; leading up to a hair health roundtable with top hair experts from the region including industry luminaries including Dr. Sotaro Kurata, executive director of the Japan Society of Clinical Hair Restoration and Dr. Sandeep Sattur, a hair restorative and plastic surgeon.

Pantene’s hair health round table included P&G’s Dr. Steve Shiel, P&G’s Girish Giovanni, and Thai hairstylist Sherry Tipravee Poochai, owner of The Libertish Salon Café

Looking back on 65 years of experience, Pantene entered a new era by focusing on hair health and lasting beauty, to discuss insights based on the Asian Women Hair Study, targeting 1,000 women to uncover recurring hair issues and the temporary fixes that they resort to address persistent problems. As it leveraged its extensive research on hair health and rich Pro-V heritage, Pantene continued to invest consumer research and the latest technology to present new optimized Pro-V formulas that will fulfill its promise of lasting hair care.
