Dennis Lustico: Barrio fiesta frocks that rock

Never one to disappoint, Dennis Lustico nailed it with his Holiday 2011 collection at Fashion Watch, showcasing his ability to make ladies look their finest.  Drawing inspiration from the Philippine custom of a barrio fiesta, Dennis’ love for dancing and festivities appeared through his creations in an orchestra of sprightly frocks and convivial outfits, no doubt making these pieces highly covetable for a festive season.

Dress to kill: A delicately-embellished bright cocktail dress is your best ammo to knock anyone dead.

Consisting of mainly vibrant colors such as vermillion, lapis lazuli, gold and pumpkin, on occasion a bit of nude would appear in the collection.  His show paraded varying types of dresses from clean, modern geometric sheaths to more elaborate chiffon and silk organza cocktail dresses with hints of delicate beading highlighting his attention to detail.  His creations were feminine without too many frills.  Worth mentioning is the pumpkin-colored ruched organza dress with just a touch of beading and the red satin skin dress revealing just the proper amount of flesh.  Dennis’ forte, however, was exemplified in his gowns.  He introduced silhouettes and designs that always guarantee a unique Dennis look, whether through a crescent detail or red accents on the sleeve complete with a mini cape, ensuring that these gowns were way less barrio and entirely more fiesta.

Favoring beaded cardigans in gold, lapis lazuli and nude, and paired with fisherman pants, these separates represent the epitome of effortless style that can go from day to night.  Sheath dresses in nude and in hues of blue were versatile in that regard as well and looked so easy to throw on.  That is the true mark of a modern designer: one who knows that their client on the go needs to run from the office to a function to cocktails.

A strong collection provided for a bevy of selections worth clamoring for; however the hands down ultimate favorite was a royal blue draped gown with a solitary white wave down the front, a concoction employing perfectly placed drapery and a fantastic balance of fluidity and color.  Bravo!
