The case of the plastic heel

- BJL -

MANILA, Philippines - There’s something to be said for comfy shoes. Designers have recognized that while five-inch platforms look great with clothes, the resulting bunions, back pain and gnarled toes are far from pretty. Thus: the kitten heel makes its tentative way into the retail scene.

Melissa, the Brazilian label that put plastic shoes on the map, has embraced the trend with a low-heeled version of the coral flat, called Treasure. With a peep-toe detail and double ankle straps, these new sandals put a spring in anyone’s step.

Melissa’s other new releases include Vivienne Westwood Ballerina for Melissa, featuring her signature Anglomania orb cutouts; Mermaid, a new wedge with a mesh design; and Ultragirl Bamboo, one of Melissa’s most popular styles now come in two unique prints — bamboo and paper.
