Sweet old analog
MANILA, Philippines - Everybody remembers their first record. It doesn’t matter if you’re thinking of your dad in bellbottoms, admiring the sleeve of his Steely Dan record, or yourself getting the vinyl version of your favorite screamo album. (We’ve all been there.) Reliving that feeling over and over again has never been hard, because Satchmi’s Vinyl Day has always been around to keep those good, analog vibes real. Now in its fourth year, Vinyl Day 2016 has found a new home at the UP Town Center Amipitheatre, Katipunan, with the same brand of chill for any professional weekender. Tomorrow, April 30, will be another chance for Satchmi to gather a community of vinyl lovers and music fans for a day of music, food, and art.
Records will be on sale — get ready to go crate-digging — which you can even sample at the listening nook. You can even go as early as noon to get dibs on your favorite records, just in time for the live music at 4 p.m. By the time the sun sets there will be sweet tunes from the likes of BP Valenzuela, Curtismith, She’s Only Sixteen, and Jensen & The Flips, among many more. As with every Vinyl Day we’ve had, food and retail are aplenty; there will definitely be no shortage of stuff to do. And if only to relive listening to your first record once again, this is a day that’s not to be missed.
