JACKIE O’FLASH - JACKIE O’FLASH By Bea J. Ledesma -
If only sports could give points for fashion. Whether its flippy tennis skirts and offbeat polos or football’s loud jerseys and eccentric prints, the look on the court is all about style. From Mary Pierce’s hip on-court uniform in the ‘90s to the Williams sisters zany fashion sense, sports figures are now being adored and reviled for their clothes as well as their game – which explains why major sportswear labels, like Nike, Adidas and Speedo, have been paying more attention to trends. Designers like Yohji Yamamoto are now influencing the look of sportswear to come. Updated prints and colors and an increasing range of cuts and shapes have been showing up on racks, allowing players and ballers the chance to use their personal style to home court advantage.

Sports TV host and kickboxing instructor Chinggay Andrada, who considers herself a "hoodies and sweats girl" is one of the major proponents of sportswear, making her perfect for YStyle’s regular fashion deconstruction. We invited the buff TV show host, who is also editor-in-chief of upcoming magazine Total Woman, a pioneer in local fitness publications for women’s fitness, along with rugby coach Hugo Wray, who organizes local rugby tournaments for kids, to share their favorite sporty pieces with our readers.
