I never understood why vacationing at the beach means to some people that you have to look like a beach bum. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not afraid of breaking a sweat. I regularly exercise and swimming is one form of exercise I enjoy at the club. However when I’m by the sea, I’m inspired by the fresh air and starry sky to wear breezy cover-ups and stylish swimsuits. I don’t mean to imply that you need to put in extra effort into looking good even on your cherished down time, I simply think that a real vacation is also a vacation of the senses.

That’s what led me to dream up a resort lifestyle collection called Starlet. It’s not meant to evoke anything overtly sexy, but it is an attitude inspired by the desire to look effortlessly stylish from day to night. I created swimwear that once worn will hopefully transport a woman’s mind to a place where she leads a more glamorous life. The designs are indulgently escapist with seed pearls, coral, citrines, quartz and polished stones to evoke the glamour of jewelry. Intricate iron-on embellishments were strategically applied to mimic body art and beautiful large mother of pearl shells are a striking accent. Dainty colors like lemon sorbet, periwinkle, and blush pink complement the skin and are also accompanied by eggplant, olive, gold and black for sleek drama. Every woman wants to have her own personal appeal so the suits come in one to three-of-a-kind but never the same colors.

Sarongs are always a classic but have lost their "now" appeal. Starlet suits are designed so that they easily become part of a fabulous beach ensemble when a denim mini, hot pants or even a simple ball gown style skirt is thrown on. Little pouches made from bathing suit fabric are lightly embellished and make a fashionable yet practical accessory.

Starlet also has a nice range of special cotton cover ups – baby tees, embellished one-of-a-kind mini dresses with side cutouts, batwing mini dresses and embellished cutout tops can be worn over swimwear or after a pre-dinner shower for an instant transformation.

All the detailing may seem uncomfortable but the beauty of the collection is that everything is as comfortable as it is stylish.
