Just a bit over three years ago, Il Ponticello opened in Makati, paving the way for an influx of sophisticated, ambience-laden restaurants in the "villages" of Legaspi and Salcedo. It was a daring move, then, deftly executed with word-of-mouth, generous portions and – until today – delightful creations celebrating different regions of Italy and their culinary traditions with quarterly food festivals.
As is the case with many good restaurant places that are open until late, they also turned into a favorite watering hole or hangout, centered mainly around Azzurri Bar, which is inside the restaurant, but whose crowd spills out the restaurant area in the after-dinner hours.
