Guam-based groups donate to Visayas quake victims

MANILA, Philippines - Organizations based in Guam donated over $2,000 to the relief efforts for the victims affected by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake that hit Bohol and Cebu last Oct. 15.

Lions International District 204 District Gov. Annabelle Dancel turned over last Oct. 20 a total of $1,001 to the Filipino Community of Guam (FCG) for its relief efforts in the disaster which killed over 200 people and sent hundreds more to evacuation centers.

The Chinese Ladies Association of Guam, on the other hand, donated $500 to FCG.

The Guam Filipino Artists, for their part, turned over $500 to Consul General Bayani Mangibin for the benefit of the Philippine National Red Cross and its relief operations in Central Visayas.

The Department of Foreign Affairs reported that the consulate also received donations from individuals including a $100-donation from Atilana Rambayon, a member of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association Guam. The donation will also be sent to the Philippine National Red Cross.
