‘Senators fitting robes for VP Sara’s impeach trial’

MANILA, Philippines — Senators have started fitting robes for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano has said.
Cayetano confirmed that he is actively preparing for upcoming impeachment hearings, emphasizing his commitment to a thorough review of legal procedures and evidentiary rules.
“They (Senate staff) asked me if I can fit my robe now, so I have to go up for a few minutes,” Cayetano said on Friday, before he presided over a public hearing of the Senate Blue Ribbon committee on a bridge in Isabela that collapsed.
Senators would act as judge in the impeachment trial against Duterte, who was impeached by members of the House of Representatives over allegations of violations of the seven Articles of Impeachment – culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, bribery, unexplained wealth, conspiracy to commit high crimes, political destabilization and betrayal of public trust.
