Staged shabu haul: 2 more cops arrested

MANILA, Philippines — Two more police officers who were ordered arrested over the alleged staged seizure of 990 kilos of shabu valued at P6.7 billion in Tondo, Manila in 2022 were apprehended in Pasay on Monday night.

The officers – a chief master sergeant and master sergeant – were nabbed by police tracker teams along Pasadena street in Barangay 70.

The police officers were served warrants of arrest issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 175 Judge Danilo Leyva for violating Republic Act 9165, particularly planting evidence during an anti-narcotics operation, which is a non-bailable offense.

With their arrest, 17 of the 29 active and former police officers implicated in the bungled drug bust are in police custody.
