WARSAW -- Officials say that agents of the state anti-corruption office are searching the premises of the Warsaw Stock Exchange and of the Treasury Ministry over alleged irregularities in the privatization of a chemicals company.
The spokesman for the Warsaw appeals prosecutor's office, Waldemar Tyl, said yesterday the search was linked to an investigation into allegations of irregularities in the privatization of the Ciech chemicals group.
The probe is a result of last year's eavesdropping scandal, in which government ministers and business people were secretly taped making political and business deals.
The spokesman for the state anti-corruption office, Jacek Dobrzynski, confirmed its agents were carrying out searches.
