BEIJING — Chinese state media have reported that a fire in a southern China wholesale market has killed more than 17 people.
The official Xinhua News Agency reported Friday that the fire broke out Thursday afternoon on the market's fourth floor and was controlled that night. Rescuers had been searching for people trapped in the building in southern Guangdong province.
Xinhua didn't reveal what caused the fire or how many more people were possibly still missing in the building.
