DigiPlus secures license for online games in Brazil
MANILA, Philippines — Digital entertainment company DigiPlus Interactive Corp. is all set for its maiden international expansion, having secured the license for its foray in Brazil’s gaming market.
DigiPlus said its subsidiary, DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda., has been granted definitive authority by the Brazil government to operate sports betting and other online games in the country.
According to the company, only 10 percent of the total applicants received definitive authority from the Brazil’s Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Awards and Bets, which includes DigiPlus.
“Brazil’s dynamic gaming landscape presents a pivotal milestone in DigiPlus’ global journey. We are bringing not just our innovative platforms and diverse gaming portfolio but also our unwavering commitment to responsible gaming,” DigiPlus chairman Eusebio Tanco said.
“By combining our proven platforms with localized insights, we are confident in our ability to resonate with Brazilian players and contribute to the country’s thriving iGaming sector,” he said.
DigiPlus earlier secured board approval for the funding of P660 million to pay for the Brazil gaming license fees, minimum capitalization, financial reserves and other operational expenses.
The initial funding is intended for a three-month horizon.
Brazil represents a significant growth opportunity for DigiPlus with a population exceeding 200 million and great enthusiasm for sports betting.
The company views Brazil’s newly implemented iGaming laws as an opportunity to contribute to a fair and transparent gaming environment, further advancing the company’s mission to deliver high-quality entertainment to players worldwide.
DigiPlus, the company behind digital entertainment platforms BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone, also continues to strengthen its position in the country’s digital entertainment landscape.
Last year, the company launched diversified offerings that cater to a broader spectrum of demographics.
With a strong balance sheet to fund future investments, DigiPlus president Andy Tsui earlier said that the company will continue to evaluate strategic investments that align with its growth objective.
He said these strategic investments include potential acquisitions, expansion into the new market and further development of the company’s core business area.
