MANILA, Philippines — Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on Friday slammed Smartmatic for breaching protocol when it changed a script or code in its transparency server handling the unofficial election results.
Guanzon said that the tech firm should be held liable for changing the code without authorization from the poll body.
"This automated election system is not owned by Smartmatic. It is owned by the Commission on Elections representing the people of the Philippines, it is owned by the government," Guanzon said in a press conference at the Philippine International Convention Center.
