MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III inspected on Thursday the damage left by Typhoon Lando in five provinces in Luzon.

Aquino first visited Casiguran, Aurora where he checked damaged infrastructure and distributed relief goods to typhoon victims.

The president and some Cabinet officials then conducted an aerial inspection of Tarlac, Pangasinan, Pampanga and Bulacan where some areas remain flooded.

Radio-Television Malacañang joined the aerial inspection and released a video showing flooded communities in Pampanga.

As of Friday morning, Lando has left 46 fatalities and damage to agriculture and infrastructure worth P9.4 billion, according to the National Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The agency said incessant heavy rainfall brought about by Lando caused 479 flooding incidents in 11 provinces in Luzon.

More than 108,000 people remain inside evacuation centers.

During his visit to Casiguran on Thursday, Aquino said the areas that are always in danger in times of typhoons should no longer be resided.

"Kanina obserbasyon, may mga lugar na talagang tiyak na mukhang delikado basta may dumating na bagyo. Pag-isipan ho nating mabuti, sulit bang manatili doon na garantisadong tatamaan ka ng malakas kada bagyong darating. Baka maganda na pag-isipan, ilipat sa mas maayos na lugar," he said. - Louis Bacani
