MANILA, Philippines -- The Chinese crowd was rooting for the underdog Lebanon to oust Gilas Pilipinas in the quarterfinals of the 2015 FIBA Asia Men's Championship on Thursday night.
Perhaps, believing that the Philippines could be the biggest road block to the home team's dream of making it to Rio Olympics next year, the Chinese crowd jeered Gilas to no end but the Filipinos stayed composed and ran away with an 82-70 win.
Even Andray Blatche, who played in the China last season, was not spared of the boos from the crowd. In the face of Lebanon's rally in the fourth quarter, Blatche trooped to the line and calmly sank both free throws despite the loud jeers from the crowd.
Blatche had a monster double-double (24 points, 17 rebounds, two shot blocks) to silence to the animated crowd inside the Changsha Social Work College Gymnasium.
