MANILA, Philippines — The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on Monday morning announced the end of the five-day protest following a meeting with the government.
General Evangelist Bienvenido Santiago made the announcement aired on INC-run NET 25, officially declaring the halt in the religious organization's "peaceful assembly" which started last Thursday.
“Nagkausap na po ang panig ng Iglesia at ang panig ng pamahalaan at sa paguusap na ito ay nagkapalinawagan nap o ang dalawang panig. Kaya payapa nap o ang lahat,” Santiago said.
The protest of the INC members in Manila and EDSA and other areas in the country was to object the investigation of the Department of Justice into the alleged detention of some of the group's top officials.
