David: The poor should be understood, not pitied

MANILA, Philippines - "Hindi kailangan ng mahihirap ang awa, ang kailangan nila ang pag-unawa," Lito David told Philstar.com in this exclusive interview with the Senate bets.

David, part of Ang Kapatiran party's senatorial slate, said that politicians need to listen more to the country's less fortunate citizens to understand how to serve them in the best possible way.

"Kung ano ang kanilang nasa isip, kung ano ang kanilang sentimyento, doon ka lang makakagawa ng tama ... dahil naiintindihan mo ng tunay ang kanilang saloobin," he said.

The social activist also admits to not always having private transportation to take him to places, and instead he takes the bus, train or a cab.
