World's brightest minds converge in Manila

Discussing politics, economics and other socially relevant issues that pose relevant questions to young minds, the World Universities Debate Championship was held for the second time in the Philippines. De La Salle University hosted the world’s biggest international debate tournament, 13 years after Ateneo de Manila University brought Worlds for the first time in Manila.

Among the tournament's highlights is the "Filipino Night," which gave foreign students an experience of the Philippines through local delicacies and music.

Debate teams from the Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle College of St. Benilde, Far Eastern University, University of the Philippines Diliman, UP Los Baños, UP Manila, UP Miag-ao and Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan represented the Philippines, with teams from UP Manila and Xavier University making it to the quarterfinals of the English as Second Language category.

After nine rounds of eliminations and four knockout rounds in the Finals Series, team B from Monash University emerged as the World Champions.
