Post-game interview: Falcons coach Leo Austria

-

MANILA, Philippines – The Adamson Falcons soared high in the second half as they crushed the UE Red Warriors, 76-57, today in the UAAP Season 74 men’s basketball at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

After trailing in the first half, the Falcons dominated the Warriors in the second half en route to their ninth win in 12 games and moved two games away from clinching a twice-to-beat incentive in the Final Four.

Just like in their past two losses, the Warriors led in the first half – the biggest at 26-20 on Lucas Tagarda’s spin drive – before crumbling in the second half.

The Falcons went to Eric Camson in the second half and the third year big man responded with 20 points on top of 15 rebounds and two shot blocks.

Adamson outscored UE, 24-12, in the third quarter to turn the game around. An 8-0 spurt capped off by Alex Nuyles basket towards the end of the third period marked Adamson’s first double digit lead.

The Falcons continued to pounce on the hapless Warriors as they put the game beyond reach on Nuyles’ breakaway dunk, 71-50, with only 2:12 left.

Nuyles scattered 16 points and added six boards and five assists while Lester Alvarez contributed 10 points for the Falcons, who held a firm grip of the second spot behind the unbeaten Ateneo Blue Eagles (11-0), who are playing the UP Fighting Maroons as of this writing.

The Warriors slumped to their 10th loss in 12 games and returned at the cellar.
