Angono: Where giants still roam

- Dennis Carcamo -

MANILA, Philippines -- Known as the Art Capital of the Philippines, the quaint town of Angono in Rizal province has been celebrating the Higantes Festival annually on the month of November.

During the festivities, residents make "giants" out of paper maches and parade through the town, celebrating life in the countryside.

This year, the Higantes Parade coincides with the celebration of the Feast of patron San Clemente on November 22 and 23.

Mayor Gerardo Calderon says this year's Higantes Festival is not only a purely Church-supervised event but also an undertaking of the municipal government to promote local tourism.
