April 1, 2010 | 9:36am
Another famous tradition in the Philippines during Holy Week is Pabasa, which is remembering Christ’s life through lyrical verses and is interpreted using old or new song. Pabasa is often held in community chapels beging Holy Wednesday until Good Friday. TheTagalog version of Pabasa was written by Gaspar Aquino de Belen but the widely used arrangement was done by Mariano Pilapil in 1814. In observance of Lent, philstar.com went to Asuncion, Moriones and Pavia to get a glimpse of the traditional Pabasa.
