At least three police colonels conspired in murdering a general in 2020, using then-president Rodrigo Duterte’s drug war as cover.

Prosecutors from the Department of Justice have been urged to act quickly and file murder charges as soon as possible against the two alleged masterminds in the July 2020 killing of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board secretary Wesley Barayuga.

House leaders advised the Department of Justice to file murder charges against the two suspects behind the assassination of retired police general Wesley Barayuga without waiting for the joint committee’s probe on extrajudicial killings to conclude.  

The Philippine National Police official who implicated former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general manager Royina Garma in the murder of PCSO board secretary and retired police general Wesley Barayuga was relieved from his post and placed under restrictive custody to ensure his security, the PNP announced yesterday.

Surigao del Sur Rep. Johnny Pimentel of the House quad committee branded former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general manager Royina Garma as a “ruthless killer” who hides behind “an innocent facade to commit brutal crimes.”
