Arum sold us out
As much as I hate Mayweather for the continued ducking, the blame gun should also be pointed at Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao’s promoter. Why am I throwing him under the bus now? Well, it seems here someone played scrooge to chicken-boy.
Apart from Floydie trying to keep dodging Manny, Arum worked his magic so that the superfight won't happen. A little bird enlightened me of that fact. Besides, reports were saying they were to hold it in a newly-constructed stadium that as far as I know, is still non-existent at this moment. See, promoters only consider one thing: money. And this old man, who is already full of it thanks to a cash cow named Manny Pacquiao, is trying to squirrel as much money away from "Money." I do not know, but this really blows.
He’s like Santa Claus to fight fans for putting up a Pacquiao show. But please, it's time to give the people what they want, whether they had been naughty or nice. Give Pacquiao-Mayweather. Money? You'd be swimming in it a hundred times over when the fight's all done and the lights have been shut off. This is the biggest investment at the moment. Imagine, the purse for both fighters, the cuts from the pay-per-view reciepts, the bets, this isn't a mega-million buck fight. It's a mega-billion buck fight.
Do I smell the reason behind the mini-feud the old man had with Nonito Donaire? I mean come on, Donaire has fought a bunch of patsies the past year or so. And with Manny, he demands that whoever fights him should weigh 147 pounds max. If so, then Mr. Arum, why not find a cadre of 147-pounders who are good enough to give us a great show? Manny showed he can fight Cotto at virtually any weight this side of a heavyweight. And now what? My favorite Pacquiao opponent is off to mash faces with Floyd. As a fan, that totally sucks. The best opponents for Pacquiao deciding to just go fight with each other since you are such a scrooge.
As much as I abhor Mayweather's unearthly demands, here you are trying not to give what the man he deserves before he gets beat up badly, knowing Pacquiao secretly harbors grudges as much as Michael Jordan did, and lands in a hospital bed. The man needs his assurance of a payday to cover future hospital expenses for getting in the ring with that bloody powerful pet of yours. Now how about this, with all the bonuses in store, Manny would not evidently land on the short end of the stick. Sure, give Mayweather a bigger cut (like one percent more) but stash the bigger bonuses for Manny, who I have no doubt will give us one hell of a show.
Stop being a scrooge and shooing away all the good fighters. Stop hauling in patsies who'll just cover up (Clottey), or drain themselves to meet a ridiculous weight demand (Cotto, Margarito, De la Hoya). Time to change your game, like a sir.
