DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — Security guards or “blue guards” in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental province have decided to organize as a group to help in the anti-criminality campaign of the police.
In a meeting with Superintendent Jonathan Pineda, chief of the Dumaguete City Police chief, the heads of security guard agencies aired their intentions to help the police maintain peace and order.
After attending a lecture by the police on intelligence information gathering, the security guards — numbering at least a thousand — said they will serve as force multipliers to the police.
As an initial step, one security agency assured the police it will set-up a radio- based communication equipment at the police station that will serve as communication link with the security agencies.
In case crimes are committed within the vicinity of establishments being guarded by the blue guards, they can send pictures through the Viber account of the police for immediate response.
