TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — The son of a former city prosecutor and his companion were arrested in a drug buy-bust operation at Barangay 92-A in Apitong district of Tacloban City at around 12:40 p.m. Sunday.

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Region 8 and the Tacloban City Police conducted the drug sting and arrested the two suspects, identified as Jason Kempis Golong, 41, a married but jobless resident of V & G Subdivision in the city, and Orlando Salazar Ortaleza, 46, single and jobless resident of Apitong.

PDEA-8 Regional Director Edgar Jubay, in his report to PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino, said the arrest of the two also resulted in the confiscation of two sachets of shabu, estimated to weigh two grams with an estimated market value of P10,000, and various drug paraphernalia.

Golong and Ortaleza, who are now detained at the PDEA-8 detention center, will be facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Charges are now being readied for filing against Golong for sale, possession, and use of dangerous drugs, and against Ortaleza for conspiracy, possession, and use of dangerous drugs. (FREEMAN)
