CEBU, Philippines - The Police Advisory Council of the Dumaguete City Police Station (DCPS) was finally organized the other day, with Mayor Felipe Remollo as overall chairman.

This was in compliance with requirements for the institutionalization of the governance road map of the Philippine National Police, through the Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and upholding of the Rule-of-Law or the PNP’s PATROL Plan 2030.

The PAC’s overall vice chairman is former NORSU president Dr. Henry Sojor with members coming from the different sectors in the community.

The members are former city councilor Antonio Remollo, Councilor Lani Ramon, Choy Gallarde of the media, Pastor James Macahig, Councilor Estanislao Alviola, lawyer Jose Allan Comon of the National Police Commission, retired senior superintendent Marciano del Mar, and lawyers Nilo Ruperto and Rafael Orillana.

The PAC will act as an advisory body to guide the DCPS in realizing its vision of becoming a highly capable, effective and credible police station, in partnership with a responsive community and a supportive local government unit towards the attainment of a safer Dumaguete City.

It will also advise the DCPS in attaining its mission of enforcing the laws, prevent and control crimes, maintain peace and order, and ensure public safety with the active support of the community.

The PAC members have taken their oaths of commitment to its mission, as administered by Superintendent Reynold Andot, deputy director for administration of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NORPPO). (FREEMAN)
