CEBU, Philippines - Mayor Stephanie Uy Tan of Catbalogan City announced to the public and the media the gains and performance of her administration during her first 100 days in office, since her election last May.
Tan reported that one of the major achievements of her programs and projects implemented during the period was the signed agreement between her city and the management of the Philippine Primark Properties Inc. (PPPI), for the construction of a business center near the city’s public market. The PPPI will also help the city for the repair of the central and coastal public markets before the end of this year, she said.
Tan said the business center will house some of the prominent and well-known business establishments in the country.
Another major achievement, according to the mayor, is the improved tax collection that already reached P55 million or just short of the P9 million off the P64 million target for this fiscal year. As such, the city will be able to surpass such target by the end of this year, she said.
Tan also told reporters that her administration had established the City Economic Enterprise and Investment Potentials, which is tasked in attracting and coordinating with potential investors to put up their businesses in Catbalogan.
Another program carried out during the 100 day-period was the strengthening of the city’s tourism campaign to attract more visitors and tourists to the city by establishing tour packages and tourism center within Catbalogan.
Tan further announced the start of the city government’s housing project as well as the improvement of the proper waste disposal campaign.
The mayor added that she is now optimistic that more projects will be implemented this year, considering the increase of the city’s internal revenue allotment from P466 million last year to P547 million this year. (FREEMAN)
