P4.8M Evacuation, Crisis Center to rise in Amlan
CEBU, Philippines - The construction of a two-storey Evacuation and Crisis Center building was started in Amlan town of Negros Oriental by the municipal government, with funding from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, through its Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) process.
Social Welfare and Development Secretary Dinky Soliman and Amlan Mayor Bentham Dela Cruz recently headed the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the P4.8-million building along the Amlan Highway at the Poblacion, slated for completion in the middle of this year.
Soliman lauded the construction of the center, saying this will play a vital role in protecting the lives of women and children. “This will help us strengthen our campaign to end violence against women and children and reduce the risks during disasters,” she said.
Dela Cruz, for his part, said the project “is the realization of our long dream to have a center that will house victims of VAWC.” (FREEMAN)
