CEBU, Philippines – The Negros Occidental provincial government had allocated a total of P9.4 million in fund to 11 local government units for implementation of their various projects and programs.
Provincial Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr., chairman of the committee on finance, budget and appropriations, said the budget will be sourced out from this year’s 20 percent development fund.
The PB recently approved a resolution authorizing Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to sign the project proposals and memoranda of agreement to be entered into by the province and different beneficiaries.
Of the P9.4 million budget, Himamaylan City has the highest allocation with P2,850,000 for the clearing and declogging of canal and river projects and procurement of multi-purpose vehicle. Sagay City has P1.8 million for the concreting of road project and fund for the Liga ng mga Barangay sportsfest.
Other allocations were for Calatrava town with P1.4 million for the rehabilitation of water supply and construction of water system; La Carlota City (P1 million for road concreting project); Cauayan (P825,000 for road rehabilitation); Victorias City (P500,000 for financial subsidy and medicines);
La Castellana town (P400,000 for concreting of farm-to-market road and barangay hall renovation); Hinigaran (P200,000 for construction of water system line extension); Silay City (P160,000 for canals and drainage system rehabilitation and Barangay Week celebration); Moises Padilla (P150,000 for repair of a daycare center building); and EB Magalona (P10,000 for its sports and cultural program).
Escalante said: “This is relative to the various programs and projects funded under the lump-sum appropriation for this year. After the approval made by the PB, the province can now release the grants followed by the implementation of the projects.” (FREEMAN)
