Bohol tremor shakes Central Visayas
CEBU, Philippines – A magnitude-4.2 earthquake traced in Bohol jolted Central Visayas on Tuesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 4:19 a.m. with the epicenter traced two kilometers northeast of Cortes town in Bohol. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of six kilometers.
The Bohol quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Cortes, Maribojoc and Antequera towns in Bohol; Intensity 3 in Tagbilaran City, Loon, Balilihan, San Isidro, Corella, Sikatuna and Loboc, also in Bohol; Intensity 2 in Tubigon and Alburquerque in Bohol, and Argao and Sibonga in Cebu; and Intensity 1 in Cebu City.
Aside from Bohol quake, Phivolcs also recorded two other quakes Tuesday morning, the first of which was at 12:40 a.m. in Marihatag, Surigao del Sur, while the third tremor was recorded an hour after Bohol’s at 5:04 a.m. in Davao Oriental. Both quakes were at magnitude 3.5.
In its advisory, Phivolcs said there was no aftershock expected from all the Tuesday quakes. There were also no casualties or damages reported. — Philippine Star News Service
