CEBU, Philippines - A total of 56 School Sites Special Patents were signed recently by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officers of the six provinces in Eastern Visayas: Leyte, Biliran, Southern Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, and Eastern Samar.
DENR-8 Director Leonardo Sibbaluca said the “titling of alienable and disposable public agricultural lands actually possessed, occupied and used for public schools is made even easier,” per DENR Administrative Order 2015-01, which grants PENROs to approve the issuance of the special patents for school sites within his or her jurisdiction.
Most schools needed concrete proof of ownership that would secure them from encroachment and adverse claims of other parties on the lot they are occupying, according to Maita Reina Sucgang of the DENR-8. —Miriam Garcia Desacada (FREEMAN)
