BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — Negros Occidental is the only province in Western Visayas that has not been declared as insurgency-free.
Major Ray Tiongson, spokesperson of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, said Negros Occidental was still not on the military's list of “insurgency-free areas” in the region.
Only 11 towns and cities in Negros Occidental — Bago City, La Carlota City, EB Magalona, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Valladolid, Pulupandan, Cadiz, Calatrava, Hinigaran and Isabela towns — were declared peaceful and ready for development, he said. (FREEMAN)
