CEBU, Philippines – Policemen who are linked to the use and trade of illegal drugs should have no place in the Philippine National Police organization, according to Chief Superintendent Josephus Angan, director of the Police Regional Office-Region 6.
From 2014 up to present, eight policemen of the PRO-6 were found positive for illegal drugs use during the surprise random drug tests. “They are now facing summary dismissal proceedings,” Angan said, vowing for “rigorous internal cleansing within the ranks.
Angan said the number may be negligible, for the 10,000-strong PRO-6, but this must be checked with “extensive monitoring” and that recruitment must be strict, citing that most of those found positive of illegal drug use were neophyte policemen.
