CEBU, Philippines - A 37-year-old man from Canlaon City, identified as Danilo Calderon, was shot dead Monday afternoon, while riding a tricycle after being discharged from a hospital in Dumaguete City where he was treated for a gunshot wound in his home city earlier.

Calderon was declared dead on arrival at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, while his live-in partner, a certain Jane, sustained a gunshot wound in the arm.

Police said Calderon was a suspect in the foiled attempt to kill former Dumaguete City councilor and former provincial sports coordinator Ernesto “Buddy” Ravello.

Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office provincial director Senior Superintendent Mariano Natu-el Jr. disclosed that Calderon was also a suspect in a robbery incident in Vallehermoso. — Juancho R. Gallarde (FREEMAN)
