CEBU, Philippines - A three-storey commercial building in the downtown area of Bacolod City was razed by fire and left an estimated damage worth P39 million in Silay City, Negros Occidental, Tuesday evening.
Silay Fire Station chief, Inspector Vencie Jojo Aldeguer, said there were no reported injuries or casualties from the fire, which broke out at 8 p.m. at the building of Kimhock Marketing in Barangay 1.
Initial investigation indicated that the cause of the incident may be electrical in nature. Most of the items from the building were clothes, gadgets, and plastic products. Aldeguer said they are still probing the incident.
Meanwhile, on Monday morning, a fire of undetermined origin hit a residential area and destroyed two houses in Iloilo City.
Investigators said the fire at Zone 1 Baldoza in the city's La Paz district started at the house of a certain Rosalina Celebria, GMA Iloilo reported Tuesday.
Iloilo City fire marshal, Superintendent Jerry Candido, said the cause of the fire was still being verified. — Marchel P. Espina with wire reports
