CEBU, Philippines – Negros Oriental was given two slots by the Church as part of an “Encounter with Pope” on Thursday at the Luneta Park.
Governor Roel Ragay Degamo and his wife Janice got the two slots for the slated Encounter. They are scheduled to fly to Manila today for the once in a life time chance to see and meet the Pope Francis tomorrow who is expected to arrive in the country for a five-day visit.
Degamo said the opportunity for him and his wife to see and meet the pope is a blessing and an honor as he seeks his guidance to be able to continuously lead his constituents in the province to the right path, as well as praying for wisdom and power to deliver the needs of the people, especially to the poor.
Much has been said about the greatness of the pope and his affiliation with the masses, and Degamo said this encouraged him to do better in addressing poverty with his HELP program.
