PRO-7 submits 5 nominees for Dumaguete PNP chief

Judy Flores Partlow - The Freeman

DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – The Police Regional Office-Region 7, through its Regional Officers Placement Board, has submitted to City Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria five nominees for the new chief of the City Police.

Senior Superintendent Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief of the PRO-7 Investigation and Detective Management Division and a member of the ROPB, said the board already deliberated on the five nominated to take the Dumaguete post, although he declined to name them to the media.

Superintendent James Gofort, the present City Police chief, is up for relief after completing his two-year tour of duty in the capital city of Negros Oriental.

Sagarbarria, meanwhile, said he does not have yet any particular officer or preference in mind to replace Goforth. He said he will have to consult first some people and meet with the nominees to ask them on their respective plans and programs to improve the city's peace and order, in case picked as the next City Police chief.

The mayor said he informed Negros Oriental Police OIC director, Sr. Supt. Mariano Natuel, Jr., that before he makes a choice, he wants to meet all of the nominees and assess each one of them, to come up with the "best" police chief for his city.
