360 Negros Occ cops augment Papal Visit security in Tacloban

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – About 360 personnel from the Bacolod City Police Office and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office left for Tacloban City yesterday to augment the security for the visit of Pope Francis on January 17.

Superintendent Noel Polines, chief of BCPO's Operation Branch, said 123 police officers came from the BCPO while 237 were from the NOPPO, adding that their deployment was done upon orders from the Police Regional Office-Region 6.

Meanwhile, Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra will be in Manila on January 14 to meet with Pope Francis. "The pope is coming to see for himself the victims of typhoon Yolanda and see the extent of help that the Vatican has given to those places affected by the typhoon," he said.
