CEBU, Philippines - The New Year’s Day revelry claimed one victim of a stray bullet in Carigara town of Leyte.
The victim, identified as Rene Pacetes, was watching television at around 1 a.m. on January 1 when he suddenly winced in pain. The next thing his family found was that he was already bleeding on the side of his neck.
Pacetes was immediately taken to the Ormoc District Hospital, an hour away from his town, and was already pronounced out of danger. It was established though that he was hit by a stray bullet from a gun fired from an undetermined source.
Meanwhile, a two to three-month old fetus was found thrown near the road at Barangay San Pablo here, on morning of New Year’s Day.
Senior Inspector Oscar Cobacha and Police Officer 2 Dindo Tuando, who responded to the scene, said residents reported a suspicious looking thing thrown near the road. When they inspected it, it was a fetus wrapped in a diaper. (FREEMAN)
